Beau Sejour pool changing rooms to close

Tuesday 02 July 2019

The swimming pool changing rooms at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre will be closing for nine weeks while refurbishment works take place.

From Monday 15 July the facilities will be closed to the public, meaning anyone using the pool will have to enter that area via the cafe.

The closure will allow the floor in the changing area to be replaced with a durable non-slip surface much like that in the toilets and showers. New energy-saving lighting will also be fitted and the centre plans to carry out further works throughout the closure to improve the function and cleanliness of the facilities.

The announcement comes after a number of pool-users raised concerns on social media over the cleanliness of the changing rooms.

Although the main pool will remain open during the works, the learner pool will close.

Temporary changing facilities and a limited number of poolside lockers will be available, and adult swimmers who usually use the changing rooms on level three can still do so.

The communal showers in the pool changing area will still be available up until 10 August and are accessible from the poolside.

Centre Programme and Project Manager, Martyn Bourgaize said: "As part of our continuous centre improvement plan we have scheduled to complete the refurbishment of the changing village at a quieter time when the Swim School isn't operating and we will make the least disruption to the public. We hope that customers will enjoy the changes and improvements to our centre."

Swimmers are asked to follow the signs in the centre and information leaflets will be available.

The changing area is expected to reopen on Sunday 8 September.
