Award celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship

Tuesday 27 July 2021

Entries for a prestigious local award celebrating innovative thinking will close in just under a week's time.

The Bill Green Award is an annual accolade awarded by the Young Business Group to recognise achievement in the business community.

After a break in 2020 due to the pandemic, the YBG Council and Digital Greenhouse have worked together to relaunch the award. They are looking for applicants to submit ‘an innovative new business, product or service, delivered by an individual or team in the last 18 months’.

The award is open to all forms of public, private or third sector organisations who can demonstrate Entrepreneurial Innovation.  Its core purpose is to shine a light on innovation and raise the profile of all individuals and businesses who are actively innovating in Guernsey. Previous winners include Resolution IT, School of Popular Music & Livingroom Estate Agents.

"The story of Bill Green has always been very dear to us at the YBG and we are very excited to be revitalising the Bill Green Award for 2021," said Nicki Harrison, YBG President.

"Partnering with the Digital Greenhouse has been a fantastic opportunity and we look forward to working together to honour the legacy of Bill Green, as well as showcasing some of the incredible and diverse entrepreneurs we have in Guernsey today who capture his entrepreneurial and innovative spirit."

Lucy Ann Kirby, Director of the Digital Greenhouse, added: “For us, entrepreneurial spirit is about demonstrating innovation, whether as an entrepreneur or intrapreneur, where an idea has been realised and is demonstrating positive benefits for the business and the community."

"We are really pleased to partner with the YBG to create a platform to promote entrepreneurial innovation on the island.”

Applicants are asked to describe their business innovation, the problem it is solving and the benefits since launching. The deadline for applications is Monday 2 August, after which there will be a shortlisting and judging process, before the winner is presented with the award at the YBG’s annual Summer Ball on Saturday 4 September.
