VOTE: Small Aurigny rebrand starts with new paint jobs...

Friday 28 December 2018

Aurigny are asking people to choose their favourite of three new paint schemes for the new fleet of ATRs the airline will be buying.

While similar to the current ones, each of the designs put a heavy emphasis on Guernsey, which links to discussion that has been ongoing in the States for years about the possibility of renaming it to something more clearly linked to the island.

But for now, Aurigny will be keeping its name. Previously, a spokesperson for the airline has said as they are purchasing the three new aircraft, it is the perfect opportunity for them to update the body paint - or livery - for next to no cost.

Pictured: Aurigny have already taken small steps to put more of an emphasis on its link to Guernsey, here, it has added Guernsey's airline to its boards in Gatwick Airport.

The three designs were posted on the airline's Facebook page, it said: "It had been suggested in the States that Aurigny should be reflecting the fact it is the Island’s airline and therefore new livery designs have been mocked up giving more emphasis to Guernsey and including the local flag. As our new aircraft will come with a paint scheme included now is the time for us to refresh the design.

"We now need you! Aurigny have shortlisted the designs to three shown below and we want you to vote for your favourite. From the winning design one person who voted for it will be picked out to win a pair of return tickets to Gatwick."

People can vote on one of the three images - A, B or C, by liking it on their page - click above to do that. The last day to vote is the 4 January.

The new ATRs themselves are set to be fitted with new "fog busting" technology, which should help decrease the number of delays Aurigny face. While it will not overcome fog entirely, it is expected to help significantly.

Recently the States of Guernsey approved Aurigny's request to make this purchase, after the States Trading and Supervisory Board agreed to bring it to the assembly. Read more about the aircraft here - but the request has since been approved.
