Attempted murder suspect now in Guernsey

Thursday 20 February 2020

A 56-year-old suspected of trying to murder someone in an apparent 'domestic incident' in Alderney has been transferred to Guernsey while police enquiries continue in both islands.

Guernsey Police have confirmed they brought the man over from Alderney yesterday, so he can be interviewed by officers at the police station in St Peter Port.

He was arrested yesterday, after a call was made to police in Alderney following a "domestic incident" in the early hours of the morning. Officers found a 55-year-old woman who needed hospital treatment, and the man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The woman was taken to Alderney's Le Mignot Hospital, before being transferred to Guernsey for further treatment. Today, she remains under the care of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Chief Inspector Andrew Hockey said in a statement this morning: "The 56-year-old male arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was transferred to Guernsey yesterday. He will be interviewed by officers today.

The 55-year-old female remains in the Princess Elizabeth Hospital in a stable condition.

Yesterday, CI Hockey gave another statement to Guernsey's media about the investigation, outlining what had happened. He said he would be issuing updates as they came.
