Arts organisations team-up to bolster fundraising

Saturday 30 July 2022

Guernsey Arts and Arts Foundation Guernsey are joining forces to step-up fundraising efforts in support of the arts over the coming years.

The Foundation was set-up in 2016 to act as a fundraising vehicle for Guernsey Arts at a time when States funding was being reduced in real terms.

But now Guernsey Arts believe a significant level of funding – alongside it's public grant - is required to deliver its future strategic plan which can be best achieved by combining the efforts of both organisations.

The Foundations assets will be transferred to Guernsey Arts and designated for continued arts funding. The recruitment of a Development Officer is also being sought, largely funded through this transfer of funds.

The officer will seek to develop relationships with fund raising sources and help with the orgnaisation of Arts events.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over £150,000 through events such as the film premiere for The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society and various Opera nights.

Those funds later supported subsequent Art Sundays, exhibitions, ‘Art on the Beach’, an outreach programme in Les Genats estate, and theatre productions.

Plans are already in place for further fundraising efforts, such as a singing performance at St. James in October, as well as other projects currently in the pipeline.
