Are you ready for a 'spook-tacular' time?

Monday 19 October 2020

A Halloween-themed fun day - complete with pumpkin carving, ghoulish games and spooky fancy-dress - is taking place at the Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden this weekend.

The annual Souper Spooky Saturday will take place between 11:00 and 15:00 this Saturday at the Victorian Walled Garden in Saumarez Park.

Guernsey Botanical Trust volunteer Cathy Morgan said there will be activities for all the family to take part in.

"People can enjoy a spook-tacular time with delicious soups made from produce grown in the garden and a popular cake stall.  Fun activities for the young include face painting, a crafting cavern, beastly bug hunt and ghoulish games."

Anyone who arrives "spookily dressed" can take part in one of three fancy dress competitions: under 7s, under 14s or a group of family and friends of any age.

La Choppe will be selling a range of handicrafts and there will be plants and seasonal produce from the garden, including their many home-grown pumpkins.

There will also be music throughout the day with Vocally Unlocked at 11:00 and the Samba Burros at 14:00.

The event is free entry and, weather permitting, there will be car parking available at Home Farm. Donations are welcome and people are asked to bring cash, as the garden does not have the facilities to accept card payments.
