It has been 70 years since apprenticeships were introduced in Guernsey and the College of Further Education has come up with a programme of events to celebrate.
Former apprentices from the past seven decades have agreed to get involved but the College is still keen to hear from anyone else who wants to take part, particularly those who started the programme between 1951 and 1960.
The Guernsey Apprenticeship now partners with around 500 employers, attracting about new 70 learners each year.
It will be adding courses in Early Years, Adult Care and Retail Management in September this year, offering a broader range of study options and a flexible learning environment.
"The GBTEA are looking forward to the apprenticeship celebrations," said Steve Roussel from the Guernsey Building Trades Employers Association. "Employers working across the construction industry recognise the huge value of apprenticeships in our sector. Our employers have supported the education of apprentices working in their business for 70 years and these events are the acknowledgement of this contribution."

Companies in Guernsey can also join the celebrations by sponsoring different events and promotional activities throughout the year. Packages start at £549 and include VIP invitations to the exhibition and events, exposure in promotional materials and publications and event banners.
Tim Guilbert from the Construction Industry Forum said: "Even the most casual observer could not fail to notice the important contribution apprenticeship training schemes make to providing a skilled workforce. The Guernsey Apprenticeship run by the College of Further Education is one of the highest quality and even as it celebrates the last 70 years, continues to evolve and improve to meet the needs of a modern and dynamic workforce.
"Construction Industry Forum is proud to be associated with the scheme and is an instrumental part in helping plan for and map the future of training for the construction trades."
