Two more record breaking speeds for Zef!

Guernsey resident Zef Eisenberg has set two more speed records, on his Sandracer and Quad bikes.

On this occasion, the speed enthusiast entered last weekend's Speed Trials at Elvington in Yorkshire.

Using the Sandracer bike which he used to secure the world's fastest speed on sand at the historic Pendine Sands recently, he reached a new British record over one mile of 216.5mph. That bike is a Hayabusa, known as the 'Green Monster.’ The previous record over one mile using this type of bike was 205mph. 

Using his MadMax Quad bike Mr Eisenberg hit a speed of 108.5mph over one mile, which is also a new British record.

Following his successful weekend of racing, Mr Eisenberg explained how his Hayabusa was in exactly the same condition it was when he took it to Pendine Sands earlier this month.

“We did nothing to the MADMAX sand racer, other than wash it," he said. "It still has sand on the bike from Pendine, same gearing, same fuel. To achieve 216.5mph in a mile, compared to 201.5mph in 1.5mile at Pendine, shows how much power the sand sucks out of the bike and how little traction you get on the sand."

Mr Eisenberg also hinted that he aims to go even faster in future: "I am confident there is more speed, once we tweak a few things for tarmac."

His Quad bike gave Mr Eisenberg more concerns on the day, with "several attempts" before he set the new British ACU 500-750cc Quad speed record of 108.5mph.

“The Quad record at 108.5mph was the most scary,' he said, "as Quads are notoriously twitchy at high speeds. The front was going into a dangerous speed wobble at 90mph +. I tried many techniques, ending up with the ‘superman style’ to get as streamline as possible. The bike accelerates like a rocket and will comfortably do 100mph in ¼ mile, but those last few mph’s to 108.5mph are very slow due to poor aerodynamics an fighting wind resistance.

"It’s not something I would recommend!"

Following his successes at Elvington in Yorkshire, Mr Eisenberg was awarded the prestigious Tony Foster award, which was allocated for Best Speed Performance of the last year for his historic 201.5mph Sand Record at Pendine.
