Another finance role for Deputy Trott

Wednesday 19 December 2018

One of Guernsey's most senior politicians has been given a non-executive role within another finance firm.

Deputy Lyndon Trott, who has decades of experience within the finance sector from a political point of view as well as in his private work, has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Enhance Group.

He's replacing James Painter in the role, who in turn will be staying involved with the Enhance Group in an NED and investor role.

Enhance is an independent global company that provides investment reporting and consultancy services to trust companies, charities & family offices around the world.

It is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission and Financial Conduct Authority to provide investment advice and has offices in London as well as in Jersey and the Cayman Islands.

As a member of Enhance's Board of Directors for the past three years, the company said Mr Trott "has a solid understanding and knowledge of Enhance’s services and its people. Lyndon’s contribution to the business will provide continuity to the Board and his extensive experience in asset management, investment funds (both listed and unlisted), capital markets and the fiduciary sector will help to support Enhance’s future growth strategy."

The firm said Mr. Trott is already a member of the CityUK Advisory Board, "which will help to foster Enhance’s Pan Channel Island and UK growth initiatives and he has held several senior positions with a strong focus on corporate governance, oversight, financial regulation and risk management."

Most of those roles have been managed parallel with his work as a politician in Guernsey, which took him to the very top of the States of Guernsey.

For four years, between 2008 and 2012, he was the island's Chief Minister, and before that he was the island's treasurer when he was appointed Treasury and Resources Minister.

Now, he is the Deputy Chief Minister, working closely with current Policy and Resources President, Deputy Gavin St Pier and other committee members to guide Guernsey's political decision making.

Deputy Trott holds a number of roles within finance firms, including as Chairman of Guernsey Finance which was a States appointment.

He is also a Director of companies including Concept Group Limited, Augentius Group Limited, Goddard (Guernsey) Limited and Lihou (Guernsey) Limited and others, which are all listed here.

Now he has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of Enhance Group, the company will be "refocussing the business on the provision of independent oversight and advice services" and in a statement, it said it looks forward to "Lyndon’s insights to continue to deliver strong results to our clients."

Outgoing Chairman, Mr Painter said:

“I am delighted that Lyndon has agreed to become Chairman of Enhance Group, which completes the succession planning for our business that we have been implementing throughout 2017 and 2018. Lyndon’s significant board experience along with working knowledge of our business gained over recent years as a Non-Executive Director complements perfectly the young and ambitious management team we now have in place.”
