Amherst Primary School is seeking a new headteacher for the start of the next academic year – just three months after permanently appointing the Acting Headteacher, Claire Hammond, to the role.
The job listing appeared on the States’ recruitment website last week.
Miss Hammond had been the deputy to her predecessor, the long-serving Tracey Moore. Miss Hammond then became Acting Headteacher before being confirmed in the role on a permanent basis following a competitive recruitment process.

Nick Hynes, Director of Education, said: “Claire has been a real asset since she joined Amherst as Deputy Head Teacher about three years ago, then stepping up to Acting Head Teacher and then formally appointed to the role permanently.
“Unfortunately for us Claire has had an exciting opportunity in Jersey, where she previously lived and worked, and has decided to take it. We wish her nothing but the best for the future.
“We are actively recruiting for a replacement, which we can do with plenty of time as Claire does not leave until the end of this academic year.”
Applications for the role are open until Monday 14 March 2022.
