£50k+ raised by Skipton Swimarathon

Monday 08 October 2018

With more than two thousand people taking part, the annual swimarathon has raised £50,000 for local charities, with more money expected to be donated.

The mammoth fundraiser, sponsored by Skipton International, was mainly held at Beau Sejour over the weekend, with the 'At large' swimarathon events being held in school pools last week.

Teams from Elizabeth College, Les Beaucamps High, St Sampson's High and Le Murier were among those taking part with some of the money raised going directly to projects benefitting students at Le Murier in particular.

Le Murier School's Village Project is one of the swimarathon's main beneficiary this year. It will enable the students to experience independent living along with learning other life skills.

Grow Limited is another beneficiary and the organisation entered a team of swimmers itself.

A number of businesses, community organisations, sports clubs and other groups also entered teams.

Any outstanding sponsorship money should be handed in as soon as possible.
