116 candidates, all in a row...

Saturday 19 September 2020

Islanders will have the opportunity to meet 116 of Guernsey’s election candidates in a drop-in day at Beau Sejour this weekend.

The event hopes to provide an informal setting for members of the public to engage with candidates and discuss the issues that matter most to them ahead of the very first fully island-wide election next month.

It is the only election event to be held in Guernsey this year with such a high number of candidates in attendance.

Registrar-General of Electors Colette Falla said the event is an "excellent opportunity" for the community to get to know the "people behind the manifestos".

“We would encourage as many islanders as possible to take advantage of the day and drop in at a time that suits them to explore the room and see what the candidates have to offer,” she said.

“We understand that those voting have a lot of information to consider, and a number of decisions to make this year, so in addition to online candidate profiles and a combined manifesto booklet, we wanted to offer a face-to-face opportunity as we know how useful those types of conversations can be."

The event will be held in the Sir John Loveridge Hall at Beau Sejour on 20 September, from 10:00 to 16:00.

The Youth Commission will also be in attendance, with information and resources for first time voters.
