A green field in the Vale could soon house 11 properties and 22 parking spaces, if a planning application is successful.

The Camp Dolent field in Tertre Lane, Vale, is a short distance from the Bridge in one direction and Vale School in the other.

It has long been viewed as a vital "green lung" in an otherwise built up area, however it could be the latest area of green land to be turned into housing.

The plan is for 11 two- and three-bedroom homes to be created on the 0.27 hectare (1.65 vergées) site.

While the planning application is open to objections, a development framework for Camp Dolent was worked up in May 2018 which the proposals are largely aligned with.

That planning framework said: "For the site in question, it is anticipated the site would be able to accommodate a density range of 30-45 dwellings per hectare, which is approximately 8-12 dwellings on this site.

"Two storey buildings constitute a more efficient use of land than single storey buildings and therefore development proposals should consider a multi-storey design from the outset."

Like many other recent developments, this one falls under the 20 property threshold, which means that developers do not need to make any of the properties "affordable".

Other sites earmarked for development in the surrounding area include Cleveleys Vinery in Braye Road, Pointues Rocques and Leale's Yard, while the one-school education plans will also see developments at the Baubigny Schools site.
