The next Angry Birds game will use mixed reality to project characters and animations into the environments of its players.

Rovio Entertainment and Resolution Games revealed Angry Birds FPS: First Person Slingshot for Magic Leap One Creator Edition, an augmented reality headset.

The release date is pencilled in for autumn with no specific date available as yet – but for now, this is what players can look forward to.

Angry Birds has had more than four billion downloads since 2009, making it one of the most successful IPs in mobile gaming history.

“We’re excited to expand the Angry Birds brand and universe to new and emerging platforms like Magic Leap, delivering fans a unique way to engage with their favourite characters,” said Kati Levoranta, CEO at Rovio Entertainment.

“Resolution Games has done an incredible job bringing Angry Birds to life in a new experience that will let players see and feel what it’s like to battle the pigs like never before.”
