An environmentally friendly flowerpot that waters itself, biodegrades when re-planted, and is made from recycled food waste has smashed its fundraising target on Kickstarter.

Taiwan-based company Bionicraft created The Alphapot, a flowerpot made from food waste that decomposes completely when re-planted in soil.

The pot contains a water reservoir that feeds the plant with water over time, so you never have to remember to look after your seedling.

“Any kind of waste created is a burden on our environment, putting a strain on already precious resources, including water, land, and energy.
