Grade: Prison Officer Pay Scale - £34,489- £44,967 per annum plus a locality payment of £1,716 per annum

The States of Guernsey is looking for a Prison Officers to join their team within its Prison Service.

The post holder will be required to deal with all prisoner categories in a fair and open manner and encourage them to address offending behavior, which includes learning to respect those around them. He/she will be required to utilise the resources available to ensure that the needs of those held in custody are met.

The post holder will be required to work shifts, including weekends, bank holidays and nights.

Appointment to this role will be subject to the following pre-employment checks which will be completed following an offer of employment:

  • Confirmation of required qualifications / registrations
  • Possession of a valid Employment Permit

 

Should the successful applicant not meet the requirements sufficiently he/she may be appointed at a lower grade than stated. The successful applicant would then have the opportunity to progress to the grade advertised once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and they have demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at the higher level.
