Key duties

• To support children with maths exercises, motivating and inspiring the children to achieve
• To manage other staff members to ensure a fantastic service is offered to students
• To become familiar with the exercises and programme followed by the students

Desirable skills/characteristics

• Excellent knowledge of KS1, KS2 and KS3 maths
• Experience of working in education or a maths-based industry
• Experience of working with children
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Friendly and caring nature
• Ability to motivate and get the best out of children

What exactly is Maths Heroes?

• Maths Heroes is an after-school club for children aged 6-14
• We offer families a chance to give their child extra support at a fraction of the cost of 1-1 tuition
• The club is based at Cobo Community Centre
• Students attend between 15:45 and 17:45 on Thursdays
• Children attend for a fixed 1hr session (15:45-16:45 or 16:45-17:45)
• Child to staff ratio does not exceed 3:1
• Children complete exercises from a workbook appropriate to their needs.  Staff support the children throughout the session, offering encouragement and building the children’s confidence and self-esteem.

Hours of employment and pay    

• 3hrs/week:  Thursdays 15:00-18:00
• Permanent position.  Maths Heroes is open all year round excluding bank holidays and Christmas holidays.
