LSA Level 1 - £17,045 - £27,109 per annum - based on 27.5 hour per week, term-time only contract, plus Special Educational Needs allowance £1,380  from 1 January 2023

LSA Level 1 - £20,145 - £32,038 per annum - based on 32.5 hour per week, term-time only contract, plus Special Educational Needs allowance £1,546 from 1 January 2023

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting young people. The Learning Support Assistant Level 1 helps young people to access learning and teaching opportunities by offering flexible support to learners, teachers and the school.  We are looking to recruit across our schools which include Le Murier, Le Rondin and Les Voies.

These are permanent posts with flexible hours per week, working Monday to Friday, term-time only. Hours of work to be agreed with the Headteacher.

The States of Guernsey recognises Learning Support Assistants as professional members of the Education Service. The postholders will be expected to contribute to the daily life of the school community and to give support to the various activities and functions which take place.

Appointment to this role will be subject to the following pre-employment checks which will be completed following an offer of employment:

 

  • Satisfactory references which must include one from the candidate's current line manager
  • Occupational Health Clearance
  • Satisfactory, Enhanced, Disclosure and Barring Service Check with Barred Listing Check.  Convictions likely to be considered relevant to this post include crimes involving, but not limited to, theft, violence, dishonesty, fraud, vulnerable individuals and children
  • Confirmation of required qualifications / registrations
  • Possession of a valid Employment Permit

 

Should the successful applicant not meet the requirements sufficiently he/she may be appointed at a lower grade than stated. The successful applicant would then have the opportunity to progress to the grade advertised once the necessary skills and knowledge have been developed and they have demonstrated the ability to undertake the duties at the higher level.
