Full Description

This role forms part of Ogier's Compliance Team and will be based in Guernsey.  The successful candidate will work with and report to the Head of European Compliance to help ensure that Ogier Group employees adhere to their regulatory obligations, professional standards and industry leading best practices.  The candidate will be expected to meet relevant targets and deadlines set by the Head of European Compliance and the OGL Compliance Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume the Key Person roles for our Guernsey Legal Partnership;
  • Assume the Key Person roles for our Guernsey Trust and Company Services Providers;
  • Ensure AML/ CFT policies and procedures are maintained in respect of all relevant laws, regulations and guidance issued by Guernsey's authorities and local supervising bodies.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of global policies, procedures and processes;
  • Promote compliance best practice to staff across all areas of the organization;
  • Act as a point of contact for compliance queries from partners, directors and staff;
  • Maintain the AML/ CFT risk assessments;
  • Provide input on AML/ CFT risks to our Risk Assessment Panel for the onboarding of new customers;
  • Prepare relevant reporting to the local Boards;
  • Manage the breaches, errors. omissions, complaints, and insurance reporting process.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • 5 years' experience in a similar role;
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements and best practice affecting lawyers and trust company businesses in Jersey and Guernsey (UK and Luxembourg would be a plus) and ability to apply this knowledge in practice;
  • Knowledge and understanding of various vehicles / fund structures, specific to Europe; 
  • Maintain and develop a good relationship with internal and external clients;
  • Willing to take the lead in setting the tone for corporate integrity;
  • Good analytical and organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines;
  • Ability to make decisions and use own initiative within the scope of regulatory requirements, policies and procedures;
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting;
  • Good understanding of SharePoint and Viewpoint database(s), a plus;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
