Ports of Jersey has provided further public access to a life-saving defibrillator at another one of its sites.

The unit, housed in a specially made cabinet, is situated opposite the Marine Leisure Centre on St Helier’s New North Quay, which is easily accessible to anyone in the vicinity and in particular yachtsmen using St Helier Marina. The cabinet has a heat pad, which activates in colder conditions to keep the unit within its optimal storage range and can be accessed by a key code which is obtained when calling 999.

The installation of this latest defibrillator on the New North Quay brings the total number of public access units available on Ports of Jersey sites to four, including the Elizabeth Terminal at St Helier Harbour, the Albert Pier Pontoon (adjacent to the Lifeboat Station) as well as outside the Departures Terminal at Jersey Airport.

All four units are checked on a monthly basis by Jersey Airport’s fire crew to ensure they are in good working order with sufficient battery life and complete inventories.
