Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management (CGWM) in Jersey is pleased to have agreed a sponsorship deal to support the island’s long-standing and successful RWB (Red, White and Blue) ladies hockey team for the next three years.

Funds donated by the local wealth management company will be used to purchase new kit and goal keeping equipment. The club is also referred to as Canaccord RWB Hockey Club to reflect the company’s support.

The team, which includes Zoe Smart, stockbroker at CGWM, has been running for 30 years and is made up of players of all ages and backgrounds.

The team plays in the Ladies Division One league and are the current champions, having held the title since 2002, as well as being the current holders of the Upton league trophy.

Chief executive at CGWM offshore, Grahame Lovett, said: “We are very pleased to support the RWB ladies hockey team with this sponsorship. The club offers the chance for ladies of all ages and levels to enjoy the sport which is important for the future of hockey locally.

“The team has had a very successful few years and we wish them all the best for the season.”

The RWB team recently announced that mid-fielder Chrissie Helmholt-Kneisel has been selected to play in the England over 40s team which is a great achievement for local sporting talent.

RWB team captain, Julie Harding, said: “Sponsorship is vital for local sports clubs to ensure sport continues to develop in the island. We are grateful that CGWM has been able to support the team.”
