Peter Zunino, head of marketing at Airtel-Vodafone said: ‘Sport contributes so many benefits to the social and economic wellbeing of the island. Given that our business is all about connecting family, friends and colleagues wherever they are in the world, we were keen to recognise the collaborate benefits that sport has on the island as a whole. We are delighted to be working with the Jersey Sports Council to help develop our local sportsmen and women on the island as well as on the national and international stage.’

Hugh Raymond, Chair of the Jersey Sports Council said: ‘The diversity and excellence of sport in Jersey is phenomenal, but there are significant pressures on sports clubs. The Jersey Sports Council is thrilled that Airtel-Vodafone have partnered with us and have generously provided the two Power Up Grants. These grants will be welcomed by the individual athlete and team to which they will be awarded and will undoubtedly make a valuable contribution to their successful development.’
