Time to check Category 1 shipping licenses
Category 1 licenses issued to operators of regulated passenger and cargo vessels in Alderney and Sark waters are due to expire at the end of this year.

The Office of Guernsey’s Lieutenant-Governor, which is the current licensing authority, is urging current operators to check their licenses and to apply to renew them if necessary.

The Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor, Major Marco Ciotti, commented: ‘Operators who currently hold a Category 1 license are reminded that it will expire on 31st December 2019, so now is the time to check your license and see if you need to apply for a new one. It is a simple process and there is no charge involved.’

Under existing legislation, subject to certain specific exceptions, all passenger and cargo shipping services to and from Alderney and Sark must be operated in accordance with licenses granted by the Lieutenant-Governor of Guernsey.
