With six positions up for contention the mechanisms of the Douzaine and the role of Douzenier will be the main topics at the next St Peter Port drop-in on Saturday 9 October at 10:00 until 12 noon.

Housed at the Constables Office at Lefebvre Street, current Douzeniers will be on hand to discuss their role in the community and how interested parties can themselves stand in the next Parish election held in November.

Douzenier and drop-in coordinator Mary McDermott said the voluntary position of Douzenier was a rewarding one and encouraged parishioners to come along and find out more.

‘The Douzaine comprises a diverse group of people each with their own skillsets and talents. By standing as a Douzenier you are adding to this. We’re keen to chat to people who have a pragmatic outlook and would like a little insight into what is required.’ she said.

Of the elected roles available there are six Douzenier positions, one of which is to complete a term of office, the position of Procureur and four positions on the various school committees.

Anyone interested can either attend the drop-in or call the Parish Office on 01481 720014 to find out more. Nomination forms are now available from HERE or in hard copy from the office, and the closing date and time is Monday 25 October at 4pm.
