The Smile for Georgie Foundation was established in January 2018 with the purpose of making a difference in the local community through small acts of kindness.
The next stage in the charity’s development is to organise and execute a fundraising cycle tour in France – Tour of the Roses.
It is hoped that over 100 local people will participate in September 2023, supported by a tour committee with many years' experience of organising these kinds of events.
There will be three pelotons riding at advanced, intermediate, and leisurely paces and early interest indicates are that places will be taken up quickly.
On 14 May the organisers will be revealing the details of the Tour of the Roses to an audience of potential cyclists and supporters.
The Tour of the Roses launch will hear from the charity and its purpose followed by presentations from road captains, Dave Marley, Nolan Bennallick, and Tom Le Page, who will reflect on their pact experiences. Finally, Gary Hooks will set out more detailed information on the tour including routes, support teams, logistics and fundraising targets.
Those who knew Georgie will appreciate the positive contribution she made to life and the smile she had for everyone. The Foundation aims to reflect her personality in all that it does.
Founding Trustee, Jenny le Prevost, commented that “We are very pleased to have been selected by the tour organisers as their nominated charity and can confirm that the money raised will be ring fenced and allocated to a major project within the Bailiwick.”
