A painting of the Flying Christine III by Sark artist Rosanne Guille will feature on special Christmas cards being sold to raise funds for the St John marine ambulance.

The picture of the Flying Christine III is a print of a water colour which shows the vessel returning from a medical mission off the coast of Sark.

Rosanne Guille said: “When I was asked if St John could use my painting of the Flying Christine on this year’s Christmas cards, I didn’t hesitate to say ‘yes.’ Having lived most of my life in Sark, I understand the importance of this lifeline service for Islanders. I hope that the cards are sent far and wide this Christmas and raise lots of money for this wonderful cause.’

The cards have been produced by locally based international greetings card and gifting retailer Moonpig, which has been a supporter of the Flying Christine since 2019, sponsoring the fuel for the vessel.

The Flying Christine III Christmas cards are priced at £2, with all proceeds going directly to the Flying Christine fund. A limited supply of the special cards will be available from the St John Healthcare Shop at the Rohais and will also be on sale at the Christmas Markets on Thursdays and Saturdays during December and Late Night Shopping in the Market Square, St Peter Port.

Jim Cathcart, Communications Officer at St John said “When we first saw the Flying Christine painting, we immediately knew it would be the ideal Christmas card. We’re delighted that Rosanne kindly agreed to allow us to reproduce her artwork on the card and agree that all the funds could go to the Flying Christine III fund. St John is also extremely grateful to Moonpig for printing the cards for us as part of their ongoing support for the St John marine ambulance.”

The Flying Christine III provides paramedic care for the other islands of the Bailiwick and vessels in local waters. The specially designed boat is provided by the St John Guernsey charity and is operated by the Emergency Ambulance Service. The Flying Christine III relies on sponsorship, donations and fundraising, as well as subscriptions and charges.
