As the 2014 Skipton International Swimarathon draws closer, organisers have announced that Saturday 11th October will be the Swimarathon party night.

Teams signing up to take part on the evening of 11th October, and their supporters, will enjoy a carnival atmosphere with party music to keep the party in full swing throughout the evening.

To add to the fun, participants are also encouraged to travel up and down the pool in unusual ways using inflatables with prizes for the most original swim accessories and most enthusiastic ‘party-goers’.

Steve Hogg, Chairman of the Skipton Swimarathon Committee, said: “Each team that takes part in the Swimarathon does so for the fun of it, and we wanted to make the Saturday night session into a party in the hope of drawing in new people to join the party. On the night organisers, spectators and participants will be able to let lose a bit and really enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and this is also our way of saying that the Swimarathon is not about swimming ability but joining together to have some fun and raise funds in the process.

“We hope that the Saturday night ‘party night’ will become a mainstay of our annual event and that more and more people see it as an opportunity to have fun with their friends, colleagues and families.”

The Swimarathon is suitable for all ages and abilities and is organised jointly by the Lions Club of Guernsey and the Guernsey Round Table. It is sponsored by Skipton International and in 2014 the two charities set to benefit are Autism Guernsey and The Channel Islands Air Search.
