Following the success of last year’s “50 Shades of Earl Grey” afternoon tea CLIC Sargent fundraiser, planning is well underway for the next event in the Earl Grey Series. Organised by Saffery Champness, “50 Shades of Earl Grey: A Darker Blend” will take place at the Duke of Richmond on Sunday 23 March, and is shaping up to be another afternoon of indulgence, pampering and fun.

Last year’s event raised £8,000 for CLIC Sargent, which went towards supporting children with cancer, and their families.  Organisers hope to beat this figure this year.

Saffery Champness partners the local branch of CLIC Sargent to help with its fundraising, as well as trying to raise the profile and awareness of the charity and the support it can offer families.

Following the 50 Shades theme, the Guernsey Burlesque Dancers are a new addition and will be supporting this year’s fundraiser, along with Mill Street boutiques Cockadoodle and Plaisirs, and Lea Powell Reflexology. Stylists from Envy Hair Salon will also be on hand to offer advice and put hair up. Staff from the Dior counter at Creasey’s will be taking a stall, and makeup artist Aimee Brehaut will be offering make overs.

Giving their support for a second year, Free Love will once again be showcasing their latest range of shoes and hangbags, and Ice Jewellery and Claire’s Cakes, who proved very popular last year, will also be returning. The Guernsey Sports and Remedial Massage Centre will be returning to give back, neck and shoulder massages.

As well as luxury raffle, organisers have managed to secure two VIP tickets to see One Direction perform at Wembley on Friday 6 June, which will be open to bids at the auction.

Chair of CLIC Sargent in Guernsey, Belinda Netherton, said: “Last year Saffery Champness made our annual tea party a spectacular, something to be remembered. Once again the team has gone to great efforts to replicate this and continue to raise a significant amount for our charity. The enthusiasm within the staff is inspiring and now we are all just looking forward to the attending the afternoon and showing them our appreciation for what they have done.”

All the money raised at the event will go to the charity, which is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people with cancer, and their families. It provides clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope and get the most out of life.

Services include CLIC Haven, a ‘home from home’ which offers free accommodation to Bailiwick families while their children are undergoing treatment at Southampton General Hospital.

Lisa Vizia, director at Saffery Champness, said: “Last year’s event was so successful we thought why not follow on with the theme of the 50 Shades books? Our in-house CLIC committee is working really hard to make sure this event is bigger and better than last year’s. We are really grateful to our “Area of Indulgence” supporters, both returning and new, as they are the people who give our event the indulgent edge.  It is shaping up to be a great afternoon, and we are particularly looking forward to see who wins those exclusive One Direction tickets in the auction.”

50 Shades of Earl Grey: A Darker Blend will take place at 2pm to 5pm at the Duke of Richmond. If you would like to buy tickets or get more information please contact Joe Smale on joe.smale@saffery.gg or 721374.

At £25 a ticket guests will enjoy afternoon tea (or coffee), a glass of bubbly, and the opportunity of an afternoon of pampering and shopping in the ‘area of indulgence’.
