The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, which invites people to "Plant a Tree for the Jubilee".

In partnership with the Alderney Wildlife Trust it is intended to give the community the opportunity to take part in the scheme by planting a tree on Saturday the 27th of November from 2pm in the Community Woodland (ACW). The ACW is at the heart of the island on Les Rochers and with over 12,000 native trees planted so far, it has been a focus of sustainable planting and woodland development for over 13 years.

There will be some 300 hundred Oak, Birch and Field Maples available, and guidance will be given by the Trust on the process for planting the tree.

Whether you are an individual, or a club or Society, all will be welcome, whilst stocks last.

This will be one of a number of opportunities to take part in the scheme over the coming year which could include planting a native tree or trees on your own property. The Alderney Wildlife Trust will be providing trees, against a small donation, for this purpose next spring.

This initiative will not only serve as an ongoing commitment to making our environment a more sustainable one for the future but also will recognise the incredible milestone that is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
