With Phase 5 of Guernsey’s exit from lockdown under way and the island now back to ‘normal’, the bus service operated by CT Plus will return to a full standard timetable from Monday 29 June 2020.
Weekday and weekend services, including the night bus on Fridays and Saturdays, will be operating as normal, with the exception of the published additional summer services that were due to operate between 11th April and 12th October (highlighted in yellow in the published timetable). This is due to decreased demand for these additional services in the absence of cruise ship passengers and other tourists.
School bus services for all mainstream States’ schools will continue to operate as per the routes and times published under the School Buses section of www.gov.gg/buses, subject to any road closures or diversions. Places on these services do not need to be requested in advance. Students using a scheduled service bus operated by CT Plus are requested to use their puffin pass to board.
Active travel methods such as walking or cycling are still encouraged to continue wherever possible.
Since 20th June, buses were once again able to load passengers to full capacity. Passengers are however encouraged to respect the personal space of other’s, wherever possible. Washing your hands, or using hand sanitiser, before and after using the bus service is recommended as general good hygiene practice. Public Health are also encouraging Islanders to “Catch it, Bin it, Kill it”, whereby coughs and sneezes are caught in tissues and disposed of in a bin, followed by washing or sanitising your hands.
Contactless payment is still the preferred method, for example, contactless bank cards, pre- paid Puffin passes and mobile Apps such as Apple Pay. Pay as You Go (PAYG) ‘orange’ puffin passes are available to purchase onboard buses and from the kiosk at a cost of £5. However, should a passenger be unable to use one of the aforementioned options, cash will not be refused.
