Four professional opera singers who are in Guernsey for a fund raising event for the Arts Foundation Guernsey will offer educational Master Classes for talented young local students on the afternoon of Wednesday 24th November.

The vocal Master Classes, kindly sponsored by Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, fulfils part of the Arts Foundation Guernsey’s goal to support those raising the game of local artists by giving them exposure to high level expertise.

The opera singers, who are already established on the European opera circuit, will be in town to perform at St James the following evening to a sold out gala dinner and concert in aid of Arts Foundation Guernsey. They will be performing a wide range of arias and duets from well-known operas.

The singers’ visit to Guernsey is being made possible thanks to the generous support of our joint event Headline Sponsors Ravenscroft and Guy and Julia Hands. Other generous sponsors include the Leonard Acott Foundation and Mr & Mrs Jon Moulton, not forgetting the corporates and friends of the arts who have kindly organised tables. Profits from the evening will go to Arts Foundation Guernsey, whose aim is to support, promote and broaden art and cultural activities in Guernsey and to make the “Arts” an integral part of the island experience.

Connie Helyar-Wilkinson said on behalf of the Arts Foundation, “We are delighted at the enthusiasm for supporting the visit to Guernsey of these talented young singers, particularly, in the light of the last eighteen months of COVID disruption. The generosity of our sponsors will make a real difference in our ability to support local performing and visual arts.”

Gordon Dawes, Mourant Ozannes Partner said, “We are pleased to support the Arts Foundation in delivering these educational master classes offering Guernsey students a very special opportunity to learn from the skills and talents of established opera singers. Supporting these workshop reflects our own ambition to enable people to reach their full potential. We hope the young people attending are inspired by the experience.”
