The Old Government House Hotel and Spa has appointed a new Director of Sales and a new Deputy General Manager. Guernsey-born Tracey Ellis has joined the hotel as Director of Sales and Malcolm Eigner has moved from his native South Africa to take up the position of Deputy General Manager.

Tracey has moved to hospitality from the finance industry, where she spent the previous six years as senior marketing project manager for Credit Suisse in the Channel Islands. Prior to this she spent two years in public relations and event management following a three-year spell as a journalist at the Guernsey Press, specialising in business-related articles.

Andrew Chantrell, General Manager of The OGH, said that Tracey’s knowledge of the island’s business sector would be beneficial to the hotel. ‘With so much of our business coming from the corporate sector we appreciate the necessity to understand our clients’ challenges and specific needs,’ said Mr Chantrell. ‘Having Tracey managing our relationship with these clients means we will gain an even deeper understanding of their requirements which adds to the quality of service they receive from our team.’ She will also have overall responsibility for the OGH’s marketing strategy.

Malcolm joined the Red Carnation Hotel Group in 2007 at the renowned Bbar in London, after working for Youngs Brewery at a pub in Putney.  He gained valuable hotel experience in various departments at several Red Carnation properties in London, while completing the trainee management programme. Following a six-month stint at Summer Lodge in Dorset, he was appointed food and beverage operations manager at the Chesterfield in Mayfair, where he worked for two years.

He moved back to South Africa in April 2012 to take up the position of Food and Beverage Manager at the Oyster Box. Malcolm moved to Guernsey in early June to take up his first position as a deputy general manager, where on a day-to-day basis he will be responsible for the hotel’s food and beverage services.

Mr Chantrell said: ‘Malcolm’s knowledge and expertise in bars and restaurants will be a great asset to us as we continually strive to exceed our guest’s expectations.  His background within Red Carnation is superb and we know that he will be a tremendous addition to our management team.’

Located in the heart of St Peter Port, The Old Government House Hotel & Spa, is one of the best known and loved hotels on the Island. Overlooking the harbour, castle and sea, The OGH was the first Guernsey hotel to be awarded five-stars, which it has retained since 2011.  The hotel is surrounded by beautiful private gardens, with a terrace and heated swimming pool.  The hotel’s spa also offers luxurious treatments and a comprehensively equipped fitness centre for guests.  No two guest rooms are the same, with 62 elegantly stylish and individually decorated rooms and suites, timeless elegance and splendid luxury abound at The OGH.
