It’s time to get silly at the Guille-Allès Library, as the Summer Reading Challenge returns for another year.

The challenge is to read six books during the summer holidays, collecting stickers and rewards along the way. This year’s theme is ‘Silly Squad’ and it’s all about funny books, happiness, and having a laugh. Children aged four to eleven are invited to join a team of animal friends called the Silly Squad as they go on adventures and get stuck into all different kinds of books.

The Challenge starts on Saturday 18 July, but parents can already register their children online at www.library.gg/sillysquad and collect their packs from the Children’s Library on or after the start date. The Challenge is free, and it runs until September.

Cornelia James, Children and Young People’s Services Manager, said, “We’re really looking forward to launching another Summer Reading Challenge. After a strange and at times difficult few months for many people, it definitely feels like a good time to be a bit silly. We’re very lucky in Guernsey to be able to run the Challenge as normal, as almost all libraries in the UK have had to offer theirs as digital only this year. We hope children will join us as we get silly this summer!”

More information about the Summer Reading Challenge can be found at www.library.gg/sillysquad or by calling the Children’s Library on 743635.
