All the fun and flavour of sin city, without the need to travel, is what’s on offer at the Las Vegas Spectacular event being held on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 May.

St John Ambulance Guernsey has organised the event, which is taking place at the St Pierre Park Hotel, to raise much needed funds towards the charity’s community activities.

Chief Executive Officer Nikki Harrison said: “With so many people unable to travel off the island at the moment, we decided to supercharge a fundraising event into a fully immersive spectacular and bring Las Vegas to Guernsey. In conjunction with St Pierre Park, we will transform the entire hotel into the St John Las Vegas Resort’ complete with casino, nightclub, multiple performance stages hosting a variety of entertainment, a themed buffet restaurant and four bars including a cocktail bar and jazz lounge. There will also be the chance to win some special high value prizes.

Jonathan Squire, General Manager of St Pierre Park, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with St John Ambulance Guernsey on this fantastic event which will really bring Las Vegas to Guernsey. Using the entire hotel will enable us to really deliver an experience second to none and we are offering special stayover room rates for those attending the event for the evening, or even the entire weekend if they wish. It will really be possible to step in to Las Vegas without even leaving the Bailiwick bubble.

St John Ambulance Guernsey has been at the forefront of the Islands volunteering response to the Covid-19 pandemic, co-ordinating the island-wide volunteer effort, delivering essential groceries, prescription medication and healthcare products to isolating islanders, launching the Caring Caller line for people who were feeling lonely and the ambulance decontamination team which supported the professional ambulance service, During the latest lockdown, this response expanded further to include transporting of those in need to the Community Vaccination Centre and Covid Testing Centres.

Tickets for the event are priced at £75 for one night and a weekender ticket for both nights is priced at £130. Tickets go on sale at 12 noon on Friday 26 March on a first come first served basis. Overnight stays start at £95.00 b&b and are bookable direct with the hotel reservations by calling 01481 728282. Further information about the event is available from St John Ambulance Guernsey by emailing vegas@stjohn.gg or by calling 01481 727129 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The St John Ambulance Guernsey charity also provides a youth programme of Badgers and Cadets, Event First Aid, the Cycle Response Unit, Community First Responders, the Flying Christine III and the Community Library. All of these activities rely on the ongoing support of islanders through donations and fundraising.
