A new initiative to introduce children to lawn bowls has been launched by the Guernsey Bowling Club, at Beau Sejour, with the support of local construction company, Rihoy & Son.

Chris Dyer, Club Captain at the Guernsey Bowling Club, explained, 'The reason we are promoting junior bowls is firstly to help safeguard the Club's future, by introducing a younger age group to what is currently a much older membership, and secondly, to encourage the next generation of Guernsey bowlers by introducing them via our free Sunday morning sessions. Thanks to the generous support of Rihoy & Son, we are able to allow island youngsters to play bowls free of charge, which we hope will encourage greater participation'.

Projects Director at Rihoy & Son, Dan Taylor, continued, 'We are delighted to continue our involvement with junior sport in the island with this 3 year commitment to the Young Rollers, the junior bowling section of the Guernsey Bowling Club. This follows on from our sponsorships of similar age groups in local football, rugby and golf'.

Young Rollers is open to all children up to the age of 17 and takes place on Sundays from 9.30am to 11am, at Beau Sejour, supervised by 15 coaching members of the Guernsey Bowling Club. It is a free Sunday morning activity.
