The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a masquerade ball at St Pierre Park hotel on Friday 5 May.

The masquerade ball will see the launch of a fundraising campaign to support the enhancement of the Bulstrode Oncology Unit at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, which is dedicated to the care of patients with cancer in Guernsey.

The event will begin at 6.30pm with welcome drinks, followed by a three-course meal and dance. Attendees can also enjoy a raffle and live music by Piping Guernsey and Episode 2 throughout the evening.

The charity is seeking sponsors to support the event with a photo booth or the services of a photographer, wine for the tables or raffle prizes. If you would like to support this event, please see the contact details below. The charity is delighted that sponsors have already offered table centres and balloon garlands for the evening, which will help to make the evening memorable.

Bulstrode Oncology Unit facilitates discussions with patients about their care needs and provides treatment and support. Volunteers from The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief are friendly faces for patients and relatives and serve food and drinks on the unit.

Organising the event on behalf of Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief, Linda Paley said: ‘The masquerade ball will be a great event to raise awareness of the wonderful work of the charity. It will be good fun to celebrate The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief’s 40th anniversary whilst launching the fundraising campaign to improve Bulstrode.’

Advocate Peter Atkinson, chairman for The Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief, said: ‘This is an excellent opportunity for islanders to enjoy a fun evening and get involved in fundraising for the improvement of the Bulstrode Oncology Unit.

‘This unit is a necessity for many islanders, and we hope the Guernsey community gets behind this event and most importantly, enjoys themselves!’

The masquerade ball will take place at 6.30pm on 5 May. Tables are going quickly so we urge you to book your tickets as soon as possible – don't miss out! Tickets will be £50 per person. For more information, please contact Linda Paley at paleylinda1@gmail.com.
