Earlier this year the GSPCA had to postpone the GSPCA Animal Welfare Sunday which was due to take place in May due to lockdown and the Coronavirus Crisis.

Thankfully due to Phase 5 and the amazing #GuernseyTogether spirit, events can now take place and they are delighted to announce that this event that they hold each year will indeed take place this year on Sunday 13 September 2020, and not what was being planned in 2021.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said, “We are delighted to announce that we will indeed be holding our GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday in 2020 on the 13 September.”

“The Coronavirus Crisis has hit us all and we were devasted to cancel our biggest event of the year back in May, but thanks to the #GuernseyTogether spirit and now that we are in Phase 5 we have been allowed to hold this amazing event.”

“We really want to hear your ideas and if you would like to get involved with this fantastic and unique day celebrating animals in Guernsey.”

“With less than 11 weeks until the big day, we have a lot to prepare in a short period of time.”

"Every day is a real challenge to raise the funds required to run the Shelter and we cannot thank those that have supported us during these difficult days."

Lorna Chadwick GSPCA Animal Welfare Manager said, “We are so thankful that we can hold our GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday this year.”

”It was so sad when we had to announce it wasn’t taking place in May.”

“We are now getting in touch with the stallholders that were booked in for the event in May and want to hear from those wanting to get involved.”

“We are putting plans together and really want to hear from anyone wanting to get involved or with great ideas to help raise funds, promote the work of the GSPCA and celebrate animals in Guernsey.”

Steve continued, “This will be our 9th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and we want it to be a great day to celebrate the freedoms both we and our animals enjoy here in Guernsey.”

“We will hopefully launch the Seafront Sunday web page with refreshed details later next week, but any stallholders, buskers, entertainers that want to get involved please do email stevegspca@org.gglorna@gspca.org.gg or call 01481 257261.”

“With running costs of £2000 a day raising the funds to keep the Shelter going is a daily challenge and without kind supporters, we could not carry out our around the clockwork.”

“During the lockdown, we launched our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal .”

“We have had some amazing donations towards this much-needed appeal and if you would like to donate you can do so by calling 01481 257261, by post or online via our web page https://giving.gg/donate/event/5876/GSPCA-Coronavirus-Emergency-Appeal.”
