On Thursday afternoon, there will be another charitable auction by GO from its showrooms at the former KdP Glass site at Northside.
Starting at 14:00 on Thursday 14 October, it has been organised followed the “outstanding success” of their auction on 30 September which raised over £3,000 for the charity, which offers trainees an opportunity to work in a real place environment, gaining invaluable life and work skills, and helping the Island’s Re-Use, Recycle initiative.
The auctions are the initiative of GO volunteer, Peter Whotton, and Manager, Mark Keeling, who saw a gap in the market and are delighted by the response to the first auction.
Mark commented: “We were delighted, although a little overwhelmed, with the number of people that came along and those who took advantage of the ability to give sealed bids and not need to attend in person.
“Having learnt a few lessons to improve the process next time, along with the range of over 200 items available, we are confident of offering an even better experience this time.”
All 201 lots are available for viewing from 10:00 to 16:00 today when the public can also register to participate or leave sealed minimum and maximum bids for the day
Chris Murphy, General Manager, adds: “Since relocating to our new premises in Northside, St Sampson’s courtesy of J&D Norman Limited, we have been delighted to be able to increase our sales and the number of training opportunities we can offer.
“The volume of items for recycling from Longue Hougue continues apace and we are always looking for more innovative ways to sell the items and put them to good use again. We are delighted that Peter and Mark are making such a great start with the auctions and would always like to hear from others with similar initiatives and can help us in a variety of ways.”
