Having a go with a metal detector, meeting a scientist and learning origami are three of the varied attractions on offer at this year’s Big Geekend.

Guernsey Museum’s annual two day festival returns to Candie on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September.

Jo Dowding, Access & Learning Manager, explained: “The Geekend is about bringing together people who are passionate about their interest or collections. It’s about embracing what is diverse and eclectic and thinking ‘wow, I didn’t know that’.”

Most of the attractions will be inside the Museum but some participants will showcase their hobbies outside.During the two days the attractions on offer include war gaming, cosplay and fossil hunting.

There will also be model trains, Morris Dancing and a trail of mini guinea pigs through the galleries.

Stuart Lean from Just Games will host a talk about Pokémon on Sunday morning, suitable for all ages. On display outside there will be Morris Dancing and live music including Samba Burros.

For a full timetable of events and participants, please visit the museum website www.museums.gov.gg/geekend21 or Guernsey Museums’ Facebook page.
