The Committee for Education, Sport & Culture is looking for someone to join the Committee as a non-voting member.

Committees of the States can elect non-voting members to sit alongside States Members. They can participate fully in the work of the Committee, but do not have a vote.

The Committee already benefits from the expertise of Advocate Jason Green, who was appointed as a non-voting member at the start of 2021. It is now seeking a second non- voting member and is particularly interested in hearing from people with experience of - and a keen interest in - governance.

Deputy Andrea Dudley-Owen, President of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture, said:

‘Our Members have seen first-hand, through working with Advocate Green during the last two years, the value non-voting members can add to the work of a Committee. We are keen to hear from those who are passionate about our mandate, understand the need for good governance and have the necessary commitment and drive to work as part of the Committee.

‘No specific qualification or experience is needed to become a non-voting member, but we are ideally looking for someone with professional experience in governance, because governance, particularly education governance, is a significant area of focus for us for the remainder of this political term.’

The Committee’s mandate includes education, apprenticeships, sport, leisure and recreation, libraries, museums, galleries and heritage, archaeology, the arts, Island Archives and civic celebrations such as Liberation Day.

Anyone interested in a seat on the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture as a non- voting member should contact Esther Ingrouille, Committee Secretary, by emailing esther.ingrouille@gov.gg. ‌
