Guernsey for Freedom are holding a Car Treasure & Scavenger Hunt on Sunday September 25th, 2022, starting from 2.45 p.m. from the Wayfarer Centre, Rue du Haut, Vale.

All funds that are raised will go directly to bring communities out of slavery. Jenette Bales, Chair for the charity says “This is going to be a really fun event for families on a hunt for some of our island treasures, and it’s all in aid of one of the greatest treasures ever, freedom from slavery”

Guernsey for Freedom supports families and villages as they move from slavery to freedom in Northern India. Over 300 men, women and children have started new lives in freedom with islanders’ support since 2018 and another 600 are well on their way to doing so.

In these villages children as young as five were forced to work from sunrise to sunset in hot, dangerous brick kilns, producing by hand, hundreds of bricks a day. With local partners, Guernsey for Freedom empowers people by educating, supporting and protecting them as they free themselves through community action. There are some 40.2 million people in slavery today. We partner with other agencies to not only free people but inoculate them from falling back into slavery, one person at a time. Many of the project workers are slaves who have now come to freedom. They help confront the slaveholders leading the way to freedom. Lives are transformed.

To take part, gather at the Wayfarer Centre, Vale from 2.45 p.m. for a 3 p.m. start. Tickets are available on the day; the cost of entry is £10 per adult. Young people 16 and under are free.
