The parish of St. Pierre du Bois is pulling out all the stops to celebrate Liberation Day on Monday 9th May 2022 by hosting a party for everyone on L’Eree Common.

‘Liberation Day is such a special occasion, a fantastic chance for young and old to come together and party like it’s 1945,’ said Parish Dean, Martin Ozanne.

There will be live music from 11 am, with some of the island’s best known bands taking to the stage during the afternoon and evening. The Cavalcade is expected to pass by shortly after midday, and viewing spots will be set up. A tea tent, picnic area, fabulous food and fun activities for kids are all part of the plan.

‘The parish community have really pulled together to get this off the ground. We hugely thank our volunteers and sponsors for supporting this event and bringing our community together, enabling celebrations in true Western style,’ said Organising Committee Member, Anne Thomas.

The event is free of charge and organisers are encouraging people to actively travel to L’Eree, although Blue Badge parking will be available. Anyone with impaired mobility (without a Blue Badge) is asked to make contact with annethomas@cwgsy.net in good time ahead of the Event.

The VraicEaters Tavern will host the music stage and licenced bar, with a favourite raffle out west, a Meat Draw! Live music ranges from the traditional 1940’s, through to headline bands The Space Pirates of Rocquaine, Stoked and Buffalo Huddleston.

Family Entertainment will take place during the day, with inflatable fun for the Under 5’s, climbing wall for 5’s and over, tug of war, sandcastle competition, beach games, football and more. Kayaks will be available for hire.

Styx Centre will be stocking the Tea Tent with some light catering, Chefan will be attending with their amazing Guernsey Beef Burgers, vegan burgers, hot dogs and fries until 8 p.m and ice cream and candy floss will be available too.

‘We are hoping for a good turn out and vendors have pledged a donation which will be made to the Bailiff's Disaster Relief Fund to aid people in Ukraine,’ said Parish Official and organiser, Mike de Laune.

Rocq Capital, Condor Community Fund, Le Tricoteur, Scaffolding Services, States of Guernsey, St. Pierre du Bois Douzaine, Morrisons Daily, Styx Centre, Sylvans and Go Momo are all thanked once again for their community support.
