Mia Ogier who goes to Brownies and is in Year 4 of Amherst School popped into the GSPCA Animal Shelter with an amazing donation for the many animals in our care.

This was all thanks to an amazing sponsored event which she did over the festive period. On the sponsor forms she wrote –

‘My name is Mia Ogier and I have decided to do the Christmas and Boxing Day swims this year to raise money for the GSPCA. I would like to be a vet when I am older, so raising money for charity will mean a lot to me. Thank you very much. Love Mia x x’

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said, “It was lovely to meet Mia and her parents this afternoon at the GSPCA.”

“When she arrived I greeted them and was so impressed with her caring nature and wonderful donation she had raised, an incredible £531 by taking the plunge on Christmas and Boxing Day into the sea for a swim.”

“I asked her what her favourite animal was and she said cats so we all went to see the cats looking for homes, have a picture and presented Mia with a thank you certificate and a few goodies while she presented us with the amazing funds raised.”

“Not only did she manage to raise £531, and brave the winter waters, she also managed to achieve her charities badge in Brownies and from all of the team and animals a huge thank you to Mia from the GSPCA.”

“Next month the GSPCA celebrates 150 years with our Purple Month, which is an ideal time to carry out a sponsored event in aid of all that is achieved and help us ensure we can help animals for many more years to come and support our community.”
