Following the approval of proposals for a local discrimination law, Focus HR is partnering with the Guernsey Employment Trust to hold a seminar on what that really means for employers.
The seminar will focus on the practical nature of the requirements all businesses will soon have to comply with, as well as the proposals themselves.
“We are pleased to partner with GET to present this informative session," said Focus HR Consultant, John Ioannou-Droushiotis. "Our aim is to assist employers prepare for the forthcoming legislation by furthering their understanding on the subject of reasonable adjustments, what it means and what to consider.
"Line managers do not have to deal with these issues on a daily basis so when such matters arise they may be lacking the confidence and skills to approach them in a proactive manner. We aim for this presentation to provide practical advice, while addressing the issues and barriers in relation to employment and disability.”

Chief Executive of GET, Nikki Ioannou-Droushiotis, added: “We have good links with Focus HR. They encourage disabled people to apply to their customer job vacancies as well as acting as disability ambassadors, encouraging their customer base to interact with GET.
"We look forward to this interactive event and hope that our complementing skillsets will benefit the audience. We hope that attendees will leave with some quick-win and longer term measures that they can action in their respective workplaces to improve workplace practices for staff and potential applicants. Both services will be available to offer advice and guidance after the event. We look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces.”
The event is being held on 22 September at the Chamber of Commerce office and is free to attend.
