VisitGuernsey has been shortlisted at the National Travel Marketing Awards 2020 for its microsite dedicated to Victor Hugo’s life in Guernsey.
The promotional agency has reached the shortlist in the category for ‘Best Microsite or Website’ for the site it launched back in April 2019.
The aim of the site is to capture interest in the famous French novelist and encourage tourists to the island by showcasing locations that inspired him and the Hugo-related attractions, such as Hauteville House, that are open to the public.
A spokesperson for VisitGuernsey said the site takes "a story telling approach" to Hugo's time in the Bailiwick, making use of specially commissioned art, historical photographs and quotes to help bring the experience to life.
“To be shortlisted by these prestigious travel awards is a great achievement and we are extremely proud of the creativeness of the VisitGuernsey digital team and its agency partner TPA," they said. "The Microsite is a wonderful tool showcasing Victor Hugo’s life during his time in the Islands of Guernsey."
The award winners will be announced on 9 March 2020 at a ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
