The staff at Utmost Worldwide have raised more than £8,000 for local charity ‘Guernsey Mind’.
Throughout 2018, the team organised a number of fundraising endeavours including raffles, dress-down days, a bake-off and a photography competition, all with the aim of generating essential funds for the local mental health charity.
Guernsey Mind, formed in 1977, is an independent charity that delivers services and support to people locally. Its goal is to promote positive mental health for and within the community.
The charity plans to put the funds towards increasing capacity at the Lions Mind Centre which is fast running out of space due to the growing range of services delivered by the charity.
It is the Guernsey Mind Committee’s hope that the Lions Mind Centre facilities are available to anyone in Guernsey who wants to learn more about mental health and also increase access to community-based mental health services.
Tony Mealing, Head of Customer Services, Utmost Worldwide, said; “This fundraising is part of our initiative ‘by the staff, from the staff’, complementing the broader corporate social responsibility activity of the company.”
Giorgio Daboni, Chief Executive Officer, Utmost Worldwide, added: “I am very proud of the staff for their efforts and the time that they have put into the fundraising. As a company, we consider mental health as a key objective for our staff and we really respect the invaluable work that Guernsey Mind does for mental health.”
Emily Litten, Executive Director of Guernsey Mind, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Utmost Worldwide for this donation, it will make such a difference in helping to fund the expansion of our Lions Centre. The facility is used daily by numerous groups who all meet and get the support they need, by increasing its capacity we will be able to provide mental-health support to even more people.”
