Tech Fair experience for Ladies' College students

Thursday 11 May 2023

A group of Ladies’ College students were able to attend the 2023 Bett Technology Fair in London, where they spent three days immersed in the latest innovations from across the globe, thanks to the financial backing of Credit Suisse and Recarta.

The event is billed as 'the biggest education technology exhibition in the world and showcases inspiring new products and content from more than 600 innovative EdTech and resource providers'.

Paul Beasley, IT lead at The Ladies’ College, said the 13 pupils who went on the trip were able to chat with technology sector providers.

"As a leading girl’s school, we want to ensure our students are fully represented in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths industries. The Bett Tech Fair was an incredible opportunity for our students to expand their learning, challenge themselves and meet students alike," he said.

"Technology is rapidly changing the way we teach and learn. We are grateful to Credit Suisse and Recarta for this invaluable experience for the girls to see how the future of education is being shaped."

Glen Tonks, Country CEO at Credit Suisse, said he was pleased they could support the school trip.

"We are delighted to be supporting students at The Ladies’ College to experience first-hand the transformative power of cutting-edge technology.

"It’s great to see the younger generation so engaged with the future of education and I hope the event was an invaluable learning experience for them."

Toby Harris, Sales Director at Recarta, said the trip will benefit the future of the island as well as the individual girls'.

"We are proud to help local students expand their learning and attend technology fairs that they might not have access to otherwise. By facilitating their participation in fairs like this, we aim to inspire and empower Guernsey's future generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.

"Technology plays an increasingly important role in our daily lives, and it’s important that students interact with global companies to open their minds to new ideas."
