Students invited to apply for digital internships for summer 2022

Thursday 21 April 2022

Post-16 students who are passionate about the digital world are invited to apply for this summer's Discover Digital Summer Internship.

The scheme, now in its sixth year, is run by the Digital Greenhouse in conjunction with some of the island's leading digital companies "for local students wanting to develop a career in the digital sector" and "seeking to work on projects for local employers to develop their digital career pathways".

The six-week paid summer internship runs from 11 July until 19 August.

Participating companies will employ the digital interns for six weeks to work on team projects. The Digital Greenhouse has secured placements with C5 Alliance, EY, PwC, Cortex and Resolution IT with more partners to be announced.

The Digital Greenhouse will also work with the students to support their future career planning.

The programme will finish with a presentation evening at which the interns will showcase the projects they have worked on over the six-week period.

Ben Wratten, Programme and Engagement Manager of the Digital Greenhouse, said: "Working in partnership with local businesses to provide young people with an insight into career routes in Guernsey is hugely valuable and has had such a positive impact for those who have taken part [in previous years].

"This truly is a fantastic opportunity for students and graduates to experience cutting edge digital projects as well as showcasing both employment opportunities and the range of innovative companies we have operating here in the island.”

John Clacy, Head of UK Financial Services Portfolio Audit at Deloitte, said: "We’re looking forward to embarking on our first year working with the Digital Greenhouse and its Discover Digital Internship Programme.

"As Guernsey continues to grow its digital offering, we’re delighted to provide students with the opportunity to learn and develop at Deloitte. Digital skills play such a crucial part in our work every day.

"This scheme will challenge students’ critical thinking, expand their digital knowledge and help them get started in the world of work, all while supporting their long-term career ambitions.”

Matt Thornton, co-founder of Cortex, said: "We’re delighted to be involved in the Digital Internship Programme once again.

"It’s a great way to be able to meet the future stars of our industry and give them an insight into what it’s like to work in.

"Over the internship, we teach them key skills to help them start their career and we always learn something ourselves."
