Specsavers' flagship store undergoing major refurbishment

The Specsavers store in Market Street is undergoing refurbishment lasting nine weeks.

The project will see hospital grade equipment installed at the High Street branch and increase the store’s capacity. It will allow Specsavers to see more customers in less time.

“This significant investment means Guernsey’s Specsavers store will be the jewel in the crown of our retail spaces anywhere in the world,” said co-founder of Specsavers Dame Mary Perkins.

“There isn’t a single store that has been more carefully designed or better equipped.

It really will be something to behold and means that we are providing the very best eye and ear care to islanders. We cannot wait to reopen.”

Two new Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) machines are being installed. They allow clinicians to identify some eye conditions up to four years earlier than they could otherwise.

A third floor is being created for training and a dedicated call centre.

Joint venture partner Chris Goldsborough has led the Guernsey optics business since 2009.

“This investment is a vote of confidence in the island’s economy and will bring the people of Guernsey optical and audiology services which are truly world class," said Mr Goldsborough.

“The store will have a very different look and feel to it, but what hasn’t changed is our passion for delivering world class customer care.”

The store will reopen fully in April.
