Skipton nominated for two WellBeing Awards

Tuesday 20 October 2020

A Guernsey bank has been shortlisted for two 'Leaders in WellBeing' awards for its impact on the Channel Islands and support for charities.

Skipton International has been recognised in the ‘Giving Back Good Business’ category for its commitment to sustainable development goals in line with UN standards, as well as the impact the Skipton Community Fund has had on the Channel Islands.

It is also one of three companies competing for the ‘Financial Wellbeing’ award, which recognises employers who support their staffs’ financial wellbeing, acknowledging their needs and helping them achieve their personal targets.

Skipton achieve this through the goal of ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’; as part of the Sustainability Report, a Talent Management Programme was established to help colleagues further their career development with academic or professional qualifications. Last year, staff received a combined 144 hours of training relating to wellness and wellbeing.

“The pandemic has heightened universal awareness of the importance of health and wellbeing,” said founder of 'Leaders in WellBeing' Beverly Le Cuirot. “Not only is it the right thing to do for our employees and citizens, it has shown to be critical to a high-functioning business, and a major contributing factor to positive social and economic recovery.”

Jim Coupe, Managing Director of Skipton, said he was ‘extremely proud’ of the structures the company has put in place to support its employees and the communities it operates in:

“We continue to put people first in all that we do, understanding that great businesses are built on the loyalty and respect of both customers and our team.”

The winners of the WellBeing Awards will be announced on 6 November via social media, and on the WellBeing Awards website.
